There is no way to adequately sum up what Dr. Heaton means to us and all he meant to JoJo. They had a special bond, a deep connection from the start. Dr. Heaton wasn’t just JoJo’s surgeon. He was a trusted friend and ally. He was in this fight with JoJo from the very beginning, through one grueling surgery after another. Performing what could only be described as miracles. Jumping one hurdle after another. And another. Our prayers were answered through him many times over and we are forever and eternally grateful. Dr. Heaton isn’t just an incredibly gifted surgeon. He’s an exceptional human with the heart of a warrior just like our sweet boy. It is our pleasure and great privilege to honor Dr. Heaton at the Inaugural JJLF Golf Outing coming up on July 31, 2023. Please join us in the celebration!
Ellen Rice was born and raised in Garden City, New York with her parents and nine siblings. Always knowing her passion was nursing, she attended Catholic University in Washington, D.C. and graduated with a BSN in Nursing in 1986. Upon graduation she started her career on the Hematology/Oncology unit at the Children’s Hospital in Washington, D.C. In 1989, Ellen moved back to New York where she began working at Sloan Kettering in New York City on the Pediatric Oncology Unit. Ellen’s 33-year career at Sloan has been one of exemplary service to her patients and their families.
It is our privilege and great honor to celebrate this incredible woman/nurse/friend/unsung hero at our Inaugural JJLF Golf Outing this year on July 31 at the St. George’s Golf & Country Club in Setauket.
It takes a special kind of person to do what Ellen does every day as a Pediatric Oncology Nurse.
In our book she’s an absolute angel on earth. We can never thank her enough for the love and care she showed JoJo (and Gina) during his numerous extensive stays at MSKCC.
She was an integral part of JoJo’s team and he loved her dearly.
This such a small token of our appreciation. There is no way to adequately thank you her for all she is and all she does.
We invite all to join in the celebration on Monday, July 31 @5:30 pm,
